| Surely the one universal theme for artists (a subject so frustratingly grandiose that each will inevitably form an obsession with it at some point) is life itself and the terrifying opposite - oblivion. Four leading Photoshop users work on individual projects in which they are challenged to represent life/oblivion - with whatever weighting they choose to give the words, and then to submit their work for peer review. Using a particular array of Photoshop 6.0 resources: layer modes and masks, KPT filters and advanced colour management for example, the challenge will be in crafting works that go beyond traditional Still Life, an art form curiously known in French and Spanish (almost inversely), as Dead Nature. This book, one of a set of four which explores the creation of original Photoshop artwork, is structured in four parts per author: art theory; technical tutorial; pictures and illustrations from sketchbook to finished project; peer review (where the other 3 artists working on the same theme review the work). |
